SOUTH MOUNTAIN

Touching the wind as it makes a way by,
Up on South Mountain, close to the sky.
As far as you can see there are many, many lights.
Up on South Mountain to look at the sites.
The desert surrounds it with nary a tree,
Up on South Mountain, quiet as can be.
Saguaro here, ocotillo and prickly pear,
Up on South Mountain you don't have a care.
Nothing to do, you don't have to hurry,
Up on South Mountain, you don't have to worry.
Looking down on the city, everyone is in a rush,
Upon South Mountain there is only a hush.
You can come up here to get out of the race,
Up on South Mountain, you don't have to keep pace.
You can lay back and rest on a rock,
Up on South Mountain, there isn't a clock.
Drove all the way up just to clear my mind,
Up on South Mountain, Let my troubles behind.
You will fall in love with this beauty abound,
Up on South Mountain, it will truly astound.
The park will be closing, they will lock the gate.
Up on South Mountain, my twice a week date.
I will return soon to this beautiful dome,
Up on South Mountain on my way home.

FEELING WORDS

I want to write what is in my heart.
I must search it, to find a start.
Picked up my pencil, grabbed a pad.
Jotted a line, it doesn't sound bad.
Wrote it all, like it is inside
Don't feel evil, my heart has pride.
Working hard to think of a word.
Write the wrong one, I'd sound like a nerd.
Strained my mind, to make it sound good.
With rhyme and taste and easily understood.
I try to give it a feeling of love.
With all the help from the man above.
"Caring... is the word, I wish to express,
It is something we shouldn't suppress.
So I will go on, with words to write
Wishing they make some life bright.

TOGETHER 1989

It's that time of year to gather the clan,
Find us that spot and play out our plan.
Sometimes it's hard to keep in touch,
Each year goes by and we lose so much.
In the way of fife our kin moves about,
A traveling route that grows impossibly stout.
A reunion is a must as you can see,
The sharing of love, and watching a family tree.
We will party a while the way we should,
In a family style as only we could.
Let us honor those who have gone to heaven,
Who couldn't be here, when the clock struck seven,
Let's ask our God to give them mere grace,
They may miss the reunion but not the rat race.
We were blessed to be here by the Man up above,
So honor one another, share all that love.
Enjoy the company and don't be a square,
Eat and drink and dance as only you dare.
Then think next year it will happen once more,
The reunion with food and drink and fun galore.

COME TO ME

The things we do are not always right,
When the need is there, I know I did slight.
While we are apart, the hurt seems so big,
Honey, you are my tree, and I but a broken twig.
I need your support, to keep my life shining,
Our life together, needs no more maligning.

I need you near me, to warm my heart,
You and I together, in a fresh start.
Let us not go on, living our fives alone,
Sitting here, awaiting your ring on the phone.
The sound of voices, and please so far only
The echoes of our thoughts, leave our hearts lonely.
I need you to hold me, and melt my stress,
Please come to me, and end our duress.

What else can I do, to express my need,
The garden of life, needs us for a seed.
We must be together, to continue to grow,
The limits of our love, will be our to know.
You see the want and need I have for you,
Surely you will make our dreams come true.
My heart is yours, our love we have tasted,
Hurry my dear, don't let our lives be wasted.
