June 1, 2008:  I have added a new feature to the web site.  It will show up as the 'Chat Room' on your menu.  If enough people express an interest in using it I will make it a permanent feature.  For the 7 day evaluation period, feel free to login with any name you choose.  Let all your friends know about this.

May 31, 2008:  Beginning Monday, June 30th and running through Saturday, July 05 the Midland Arts Council will sponsor its third annual ‘Summer Art Gallery’ in the atrium of the Lincoln Performing Arts Center, One Lincoln Park, Midland, PA. This exhibit will feature artists with local ties to our area and surrounding counties. Invited artist is Tim Wolfe, nationally recognized sculptor. The presentation includes a juried show. This year’s juror is Claire Hardy known for her elegant oil painting compositions. Western PA has always had a strong artistic community. The goal of the art council is to promote and support artistic talent and to increase exposure of the arts to the tri-state area. Admission is free. Doors open from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. through July 3rd and 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. July 4th and 5th. Come and join us at the Lincoln Performing Arts Center for a one-of-a-kind exhibit you will always remember Enjoy the arts in your own backyard. The Midland Hall of Fame will induct its 3rd class on Sunday October 14th at 6 pm at the St. Anthony Club in Midland. It will take place at the Midland Tip-Off Basketball Tournament Banquet. This year's inductees are all MHS championship coaches...John Petchel - Football, Hank Kuzma and Ed Olkowski - Basketball. Mr. Petchel coached the Leopards to two WPIAL titles. Mr. Kuzma led the greatest team in PA schoolboy history to the WPIAL and PIAA crowns in 1965. Mr. Olkowski guided Midland to another half-dozen WPIAL championships and five more state titles. Also that evening, coaches and select players invited to participate in the 2007 Midland Tip-off Tournament in December will be introduced. This year's teams are Blackhawk, Beaver Falls, Hopewell, and defending champion Erie Cathedral Prep. The guest speaker will be new Robert Morris University Head Basketball Coach Mike Rice, Jr., who is in his first season after serving on the staff at Pitt. WJAS Radio personality and Comcast Sports play-by-play announcer Chris Shovlin will again serve as emcee. Tickets will be available soon. 09 Aug. 2006:  I am adding a new feature to the website.  It will be titled "Hall of Honor".  The page will honor those who contributed to the education of LHS students and stood as  role models in our lives.  Also it will include those alumni who have excelled in their chosen professions.  It will be initiated by a listing of those athletes inducted into the Beaver County Sports Hall of Fame.  Any alumni may make a nomination by emailing me at pmn37@hotmail.com with the nominee's name and a brief summary of how this nominee affected your life and/or their accomplishments.

13 July 2006:  There seems to be some problems with users being able to view the updates that I post.  In most cases it is a problem with the preferences settings on your browser.  Most browsers save the pages you view on the internet in a history file on your local hard drive.   When you call for a page the browser checks to see if there is a copy on your local drive and, if so, loads it from there.  If it cannot find it on your hard drive it will then load it from the internet.  The time that these files are saved is set by the 'preferences settings' on your browser.  One way to resolve this and force the browser to load the newer page is to click on the refresh icon after you have loaded the page in question.  The icon is different for different browsers but for Internet Explorer it looks like this:

To all AOL users.  AOL will not accept any mail either sent from or forwarded from MHSRODIS. This is a result of their over-zealous attempt to eliminate spam.

15 March 2006:  A new event has been added to the Centennial Schedule.  The Midland Arts Council is having a showing of the  works of artists who were influenced by their association with Midland.  The show will run from 25 June thru 7 July in the LPPAC. Added Nancy Beglin Equels '55, Mollie Beglin Hall '53  and Melva Vranes Skinner '63 to the Email file.  Also the Yearbook for the Class of '58 has been added to the web site.  Also the  Class of '55 information has been converted to the yearbook format.  Check it out.

27 Jan 2006:  I have become aware of another AOL problem.  Not only is AOL rejecting the newsletter emails to its subscribers, it is also rejecting any email from the mhsrodis website.  If anyone sends an email using the icon in the alumni lists to an AOL user ( and there are over 40 registered alumni using AOL ) you will receive an error message from AOL saying the delivery  has been delayed, followed by another message saying the email is undeliverable.  These error messages will contain the AOL subscribers address.  The only recourse is to resend the email using your own email service.  Remember: if you want a better internet, you deserve AOL!

20 July 2005:  Somehow in the past six months, this page got discontinued and disappeared from the navigation bar.  Mea culpa!  So here we go with the latest updates.  You should "refresh" all your pages to make sure you are current.  When you enter the site the navigation bar should look something like this:

If it doesn't, then you must use the "refresh" or "reload" button on your browser.

I am returning to the old guestbook and bulletin board usages.  I have tested this for the past week and it appears to discourage spammers.  So, we shall see.  I could not incorporate any of the comments from the replacement guest book. Sorry.

You will notice the "history" section has been divided into a "Midland History" and "Midland Photos" selection.
