The Midland Hall of Fame will induct its 3rd class on Sunday October 14th at 6 pm at the St. Anthony Club in Midland. It will take place at the Midland Tip-Off Basketball Tournament Banquet. This year's inductees are all MHS championship coaches...John Petchel - Football, Hank Kuzma and Ed Olkowski - Basketball. Mr. Petchel coached the Leopards to two WPIAL titles. Mr. Kuzma led the greatest team in PA schoolboy history to the WPIAL and PIAA crowns in 1965. Mr. Olkowski guided Midland to another half-dozen WPIAL championships and five more state titles. Also that evening, coaches and select players invited to participate in the 2007 Midland Tip-off Tournament in December will be introduced. This year's teams are Blackhawk, Beaver Falls, Hopewell, and defending champion Erie Cathedral Prep. The guest speaker will be new Robert Morris University Head Basketball Coach Mike Rice, Jr., who is in his first season after serving on the staff at Pitt. WJAS Radio personality and Comcast Sports play-by-play announcer Chris Shovlin will again serve as emcee. Tickets will be available soon.
